About Islabikes
Islabikes was born in 2006 when former professional cyclist and three-time British mountain bike champion Isla Rowntree set out to change the future of children’s bicycles.

As a bicycle expert in the circle of family and friends, Isla found that someone asked her for advice and recommended bicycles for their young children. As a communicator of various forms of bicycles, she realized that she could not wholeheartedly recommend any children’s bicycles on the market at that time, which were usually of low quality, very heavy and not ergonomic. She worries that they are more likely to prevent children from riding bicycles than to instill a lifelong love for it.

With her background in bicycle design and personal experience as a small person overcoming the limitations of “standard” bicycles, Isla felt that she could do better and established Isl​​abikes to do this.

Isla is only equipped with a self-made desk, a £5 special telephone/pen holder/stapler/ruler set and a workbench for bicycle assembly, rented in a converted barn in Cleverly, Staffordshire A small work area, and then start working.

Adult bicycles from Islabikes can be tried out at Islabikes’ try-on studio in Ludlow within a week.
Islabikes can only provide trial rides for customers who have booked. This is to allow Islabikes to provide the best experience while keeping Covid safe. Unfortunately, if you arrive without a reservation, Islabikes will not be able to provide trial rides.
